StreamLink
is
your connection to stream studies teams, watershed educators, and
stream stewardship projects throughout the State of Kansas. StreamLink
provides a variety of support services for these activities - from
connecting individuals to helpful resources, to assisting at water
related events.
One
of the major goals of the program is to get students out of the
classroom and into local streams to experience first hand just what
a real creek is like: what it looks like, what lives there, and
what affects the water, its inhabitants, and all living things that
depend on it. In doing so, they gain a better understanding of stream
systems and the importance of water as a resource. At the same time,
they develop a connection to the land, begin to realize that they
can have an impact, and gain a sense of stewardship.
Overall,
we want to help provide a means for students to explore their immediate
watershed while strengthening the communities' understanding of
watershed concepts. Ultimately, StreamLink is a community-based
water resource literacy program focused on creating and sharing
outdoor watershed studies and explorations.
