Eileen Ernst started studying Indian Creek with her 3rd grade classes in the Fall of 2000. Students study a unit on natural resources and environmental awareness, which includes recycling, composting, and the importance of water and conservation. Each spring and fall, students visit the creek near Shawnee County North Community Center to assess the stream, write and draw about their experience, and explore Indian Creek.
Kansas StreamLink Facilitator Jaime Ziesenis, KDHE, assists students with the Visual Assessment during their Spring 2002 outing
